Downing 5 - Pengiuns 13 (18th Jan 2014)

Hello

This will be pretty brief:

MVP: Luke

We had a good turnout which was nice to see. We started off well but then Penguins started playing to a higher standard and we didn’t match them. Having said that there was still a lot of good play - great cutting from John and great Ds from Luke etc. Everyone’s rusty after xmas - i personally made a lot of bad decisions and throws etc - but after a few practices I’m sure we will improve.

Winter Cuppers 2013 Report

The first thing i saw on Thursday the 5th December as i left my room was a panicked Clackers, muttering something about being late. When someone as prompt and punctual as Clackers is late, you know it’s not going to be your average day. Perhaps this was an omen of things to come…

Downing 6 - Corpus Christi 13

As the final match before Winter Cuppers, DCU were in high spirits for their match against Corpus.

Tournament Report by Joey Reiness:

The challenge began with a testing expedition to the foreign territories of corpus pitches. Many didn’t make it*. Some came via ridiculous routes (chud). But in the end we were still 10 strong and had great sideline support from the furiously tweeting Sam and conic Tejas.

New DCU Committee

DCU's 2013 AGM took place 23/11/13 underneath the bar.

The turn out was low, and only 3 committee members were able to attend, not quite enough for quorum. However skyping Fraser allowed enough committee members required by the constitution to make any changes, and the AGM went under away.

The AGM minutes best describe what occurred, so only a quick summary of positions is given here:

Trinity 7 - 5 DCU Lions

It was a cold windy afternoon as I made the long trek down most of Lensfield road to our match at Parker's Piece. No really, I don't think you can truly understand unless you were out in it. The cold on its own would have finished off lesser teams. Couple that with a gusty, unpredictable wind and precipitation ranging from sudden bursts of coherent rain drops to some form of drizzle. This felt like a day for snuggling in front of a warm fire, with a mug of hot chocolate and a large duvet. This did not feel like a day made for outdoor pursuits, not even Ultimate.
