DCU 13 - 1 CHURCHILL

MVP: Beth ‘wowcher’ ‘get a wow a day @ wowcher.com’ Boucher.

24th January 2016, Churchill Pitches

Another strong turn out for DCU, with 13 players to Churchill’s 6. You cannot fault our #keeness.
Churchill played a solid zone on D, which we combatted using our ho stack skillz. Despite some cheeky point blocks (including a particularly cheeky foot block from Churchill captain, ‘Chaptain’, Seyon), we worked our way up the pitch with beautiful cutting from the cutters, and peachy handling from the handlers.

DCU 10-2 Chrembroke House

MVP: Tasha Smith!

DCU had a strong start to the season, winning our first match against Chrembroke House.
We had a great turnout; Ravi turned up quite drunk, classic Ravi. Famelton (aka Fammy) was getting worried when he was the only one there, drowning in a sea of DCU, but eventually more of them started turning up, and we were able to start the game with 6 of them (and 16 of us). With one man down, we played against a zone (FSU), and were able to break through it quite quickly, with many people able to find space and keep the flow going. They eventually got two more players to come and play,

Churchill 10-3 win, 02/11/15

MVP: Beth Boucher

We faced a depleted Churchill last weekend (thanks mixed indoor regionals!), and took a comfortable victory after a close start. Churchill had only 6, and no women, and so they played zone on defence. We tried to pass our way through their zone using lots of handler movement. On defence we stuck with man forehand with an under poach (great work from Tessa and Katie). Churchill took the first point of the game but we took the next two points. Churchill started to tire and we took half at 7-3. We won 3 points in a row after half (including a nice give-go move between Ben and Liam) to finish the match at 10-3.

Corpus 12-4 win, 25/10/15

MVP: Mick Grierson

Another great turnout and performance from DCU! Despite missing a few of our most experienced players we had a fast start, pulling out a 4-0 lead. We played horizontal stack on offence and a man forehand on defence. We constantly threatened on both under and deep cuts (more of which may have come off if David stopped hucking the disc out the back of the pitch). Highlights included two great deep cuts by Mick, one for a score, and general good flow in moving the disc down the field. We took half at 7-3 and David scored the final point for the 12-4 win.

LongHill 9-8 win 21/10/15

MVP: Gabe Greening

Last Saturday's match against LongHill was a great success for members of DCU old and new! With a turnout of 18, we definitely had the numbers over LongHill's 8, and we put this to good use to tire them out and win the game 9-8 in a final flourish.

Freshers!

DCU had a great freshers beginners session on the paddock! We started with some throwing and mini games, and finished with a full-sized game. Looking forward to seeing how the freshers develop throughout the year!
