MVP: Gabe Greening

Last Saturday's match against LongHill was a great success for members of DCU old and new! With a turnout of 18, we definitely had the numbers over LongHill's 8, and we put this to good use to tire them out and win the game 9-8 in a final flourish.

The game began with LongHill making good use of their relatively large number of experienced players to go up 2-0, but we got into the swing of things and began trading points so that they were still only 2 points ahead (7-5) at half time.

After half, we'd really got the hang of things and started to tire them out, catching up to 7-7. The next two gruelling points, one of which lasted over 20 minutes, had a few very unluckily dropped discs, so we were tied at 8-8 with time gone, meaning next point wins. However LongHill were in a tough position with their only two women needing to leave, meaning they had to play with 5 players against our 7. With their 5 remaining being quite experienced, it wasn't an easy time, but great effort from all on the pitch meant we came away with the win 9-8!

On the whole, it was a great match for all, with everyone playing very well and beginners picking up the idea very quickly!
