So the day started pretty windy which was a bit worrying as we all watched the Spaniels practice their zone - that one we hadn't gone through in practice yet. I for one was also pretty startled to see the sea of red that seemed to have flooded Parker's Piece (to be fair Tejas was also wearing a red hoody) as they seemed to outnumber us 3:1. Nevertheless we gathered, we practised some throwing, warmed up and goaded a tentative Tejas to join the circle and screamed a Duff for the Win with the confidence of a team of 40 (this upset Tejas' poor hungover brain).

We quickly explained how to go against a zone to the freshers and how they picked it up like a mouse to eating cheese! Soon we were off to an amazing start, only conceding one point as our handlers stayed chilly with beautiful swings and short passes and Kenny did his mid thing like the pro he is. Half came quickly and we were in high spirits. We went through a couple of the questions people had before going full pelt into the next game.

It got to 9-1 when time went giving a soft cap of 10, we had witnessed an awesome D from Connor and a lack of Louis (who said he would turn up on the 8th point). The Spaniels had previously tried switching to Man D and we reacted fast and well to counter this with everyone keeping agile on their feet and being able to break free of their man. So here it was, one last point and we would have won the match, unfortunately luck and pressure meant we conceded the point (we need stay chilly sessions) but eventually we got it back together and won the match.

I hope everyone enjoyed their first College League match of the term, no worries if you were worried about your fitness/throwing, they will get better as long as you keep turning up to practices and playing in matches (which I am sure you can agree is a different experience than just throwing to each other!). Remember, if you want to try new positions just say when we are on the line and we'll let you try them, this is what College League is for. On the pitch (and off) remember to keep shouting and communicating and be aware of what is happening around you. If you can't make practices or want more, I would recommend going to the SB (sign up on their mailing list) 11am practices on Jesus Green on Sundays, if you don't want to go on your own just post the mailing list and we'll form a troupe of us.

Well done everyone, that was a great well spirited game to start off on and I look forward to the next!
