DCU 9 - Homerton 3

10/02/15
MVP: Thomas Sheat

Match report:
Once upon a time on a sunny Saturday afternoon, the mighty DCU took to the fields of the distant land of Homerton, ready to taste the tantalising tingle of triumph. And taste it they did.

With a bit (read: extraordinarily copious amounts) of mud and the Homerton playing zone the whole time, it made for a great game all round. Starting out with a couple of points for DCU before Homerton had a chance to properly set their zone, followed by a steady stream of points for Downing as we marched our way down the pitch with handler swings. A few points took some time for us to break the zone and get the continuations we needed to go from crawling our way forward to soaring into the endzone. Homerton's O mainly consisted of long throws that didn't complete, so we took half, then fought through a lengthy point for time to go with the score at 8-3. We took the final point quickly and decisively with a short pop from the edge of the endzone.
MVP went to Thomas.

Our main problems throughout the game were dropped catches, due to a combination of mud and not running through the disc (we'll be working on this over the next week or so) and not having the cuts already in place when handlers got the disc in open space.

It was wonderful to see many of the team handling well, in addition to everyone settling in to the horizontal offence against the zone.
